Urban Automotive plays 2 winning Aces in Vegas

This month we saw the annual SEMA show play host to some of the most specialised companies in the automotive industry through its annual exhibition at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Whilst SEMA is very much a show that is dominated by American automotive companies, there was a notable British flavour on the Milltek stand this year, courtesy of Urban Automotive.

Showcasing a modified Urban Rolls Royce Ghost and an Urban Range Rover L460, the attendees at SEMA could easily have been mistaken for thinking that these two vehicles were the product of an LA / Miami based auto outfit. They’d only be partially correct though. The styling modifications to the Ghost and the L460 were carried by Los Angeles’ based Platinum Group who commissioned both launch vehicles, but the kit was designed and developed by the UK’s very own Urban Automotive.

Let’s start with the Range Rover..

Urban’s Widetrack kit for the Range Rover L460 is a thoroughly comprehensive styling programme consisting of 44 individual components which all come together to form Urban’s ‘OEM plus’ design.

The L460 updates include; replacement carbon fibre front bumper, new front carbon fibre / gloss black front bumper mouthpiece, integrated DRL’s, three piece front bumper splitter, replacement carbon fibre rear bumper, rear diffuser with removal skid pan, milled billet aluminium exhaust finishers with engraved Urban logo, optional widebody arch package, optional lower door sills, replacement front door blade with Urban icon branding, upper rear spoiler, rear Urban ‘sabre’ trim piece with Urban icon, Urban icon rear tailgate badge and Urban bonnet & tailgate lettering. Customers also have the choice of optioning a Milltek sports performance exhaust, with a further choice over 5 forged and cast alloy wheel designs. Our personal favourites are the Vossen made UV-7’s.

This is Urban Automotive’s most detailed styling package to date and it shows. The ‘OEM plus’ phrase describes the design exactly. Urban’s L460 looks like it could have come from Land Rover’s very own Special Vehicle Operations, but at the same time you can just tell it’s not from the SVO team. It looks like one of those concepts that gets sketched out, that we all hope the manufacturer will build. How many times have we seen a design sketch or a concept at a motor show, only to find out that it will never make production or to see the actual production vehicle some time later to be quite different from the original design.

Moving onto Urban’s Rolls Royce Ghost, we cannot help but think that if Al Capone were around today, he’d probably drive (or more likely be driven in) Urban’s Rolls Royce Ghost. Urban’s work on the Ghost follows on from their modification programme for the Rolls Royce Cullinan which was launched in 2022 and attracted high profile celebrity customers such as Scott Disick. Much of the same aspects that have been re-developed for the Range Rover have also been re-defined for the Ghost including the front bumper and splitter, the rear bumper and diffuser, door sills and exhaust finishers to name a few. Urban’s UV6 and UV7 Vossen wheels are also available for the Ghost.

Cracking the US is always a challenge for any company, let alone a non-US company, but a recent exclusive distribution partnership with Tennessee based Milltek Corporation will ensure that Urban’s premium products are available on the US side of the pond.

The positive reaction to the Urban vehicles at SEMA, coupled with being able to attract high profile US customers, who are much more accustomed to purchasing modified and bespoke vehicles, will put the wind into Urban Automotive’s sails as it takes the next steps on its American voyage and we wish them Godspeed. It’s inspiring to see a British automotive company make such an impact in one of the most established automotive aftermarket heartlands and we think there is a lot more to come from the Milton Keynes based tuning house.

One thing’s for sure, Urban Automotive certainly played its cards right in Vegas.
